Can I Fly with Matchbooks?
Fly responsibly with your matchbooks.

You're generally only allowed to take one matchbook on the plane with you and it should be in your carry on. In most likely cases, you would be ok with 2-3 if they're separated from each other. If you're traveling with friends or family for a destination wedding with custom matchbooks, I would ask each of them to take 1-2 so you have enough for photography and a handful for the table.
If you try flying with a large amount of matches, you can expect them to be confiscated by the airline if caught. If flying within the US, you should ship them UPS or Fedex Ground to the final destination. Be sure to use the original outer box packaging that your order came in.

Matchbooks where the flap goes over the match stems and tucks in, are referred to as 'safety matchbooks'. When speaking with the airline, you can use the term 'safety matchbooks' in discussions.
